Speaker 6 at TEDxDubbo: FACETS

“Cross Industry Transformation “

The purpose of my work is about creating brand new capacities in organisations and society that will accelerate our transition to a much more viable relationship between our economy, society and global ecosystem. Our approach to change, innovation and governance is proving ineffective and outdated for today’s most pressing, systemic challenges affecting Earth and society.

So my work focuses on developing a whole new breed of government, business and civic leaders who can foster dialogue across traditional boundaries and rapidly produce innovative cross-sector responses to tough systemic challenges in society; food, water, energy, health and education.

My experience is in designing and facilitating these ‘whole-of-government’ and ‘cross-sector’ innovation processes which help us to take the traditionally difficult leap from turning tough multi-lateral, systemic problems into unprecedented cooperation, shared vision and innovative system-wide action across parties, agencies, sectors and society.

For more information on the underlying approach and examples of large-scale systems change, please visit the Presencing Institute lead by Dr Otto Scharmer at MIT, the Sustainable Food Lab and the ALIA Institute.

I also facilitate different types of multi-stakeholder dialogue processes in government, industry and social innovation networks. In particular, my work is currently focused on evolving an approach called “Deep Dialogue & Transformative Narratives: Shaping New Social Realities & Alternative Futures.” This is about co-creating new shared paradigms and narratives, at scale across stakeholder networks and society, that address the conflict between endless economic growth on a planet with biophysical limits. How do we foster dialogue across divides, unlock stuck patterns, and proceed forward together?
